During 2 expeditions of several weeks to the South Pole, some 40 terabytes of footage was made. In order to get all that back to Belgium in an organized, efficient and above all safe way, I devised a custom storage and backup strategy.
“The year 2050 will be a tipping point in the history of our planet, according to climate scientists. While the seawater is slowly but surely warming, the ice in Antarctica is melting visibly. Adventurous Belgians have always felt a certain attraction to this gigantic expanse of ice. ‘2050’ not only tells the story of modern climate scientists at the Princess Elisabeth Base, but also catapults the viewer back to the year 1898, when Belgian explorer Adrien de Gerlache led the very first winter mission to the South Pole with his ship Belgica.”
